WIP Daivd Bowie as Jareth by DigiAvalon WIP Daivd Bowie as Jareth by DigiAvalon

Edit

so now in maya rendering, almost done, I still have to fix the silk shader, and coat shader. I have most of my hair system done though I need to make it a bit bigger, ad some more fill layers, to random it up some more, maybe some diff in color strands, and stuff. The hair is really my biggest tweak at this point so I'm hoping it will get finished up soon :) There are still other small things to do but Im working on them too lol

Edit

got the pose done, the wrinkles have been a huge pain but I'm finished with them I need to bring him into maya so I can start textuing and rendering. I did a base polypaint on his face but will do the rest of the work in my beloved Photoshop, as z brush just doesn't handle its layers well...
--

Just a sample work in progress of my second demo reel piece, which will be David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King from The Labyrinth. I plan on only doing a bust but he'll be in the dance scene outfit "which is only blocked in atm" and holding the crystal ball.

I have some hair cards started, well actually almost finished as far as placement goes but I am going to attempt to try actual hair knowing I have a fallback already in place.

The texture's should start the week after next and will be primarily done in Zbrush/Photoshop. I hope by doing it this way I can continue to tweak his features to get him as close as possible before I bake out my maps.

Wow, I'm not much into CG but this is AMAZING. Bowie would be proud. It's so realistic.

how did you do that shirt, looks like a pain

it wasn't too bad I started with a plane and extruded it down to make sections then added edge loops to make the ruffles. When I was happy I pulled the pieces closer to where the shirt would be back, and extruded the whole thing to give depth. then smoothed, and tweaked. This was done in maya then moved into zbrush.

It looks great and I can't wait to see this finished. I was wondering though, what is the process you go through when you make these models? Do you you max or maya first then go into zbrush or do you just only use zbrush?

maya then zbrush, though you don't have to do it that way. I personally like to get working topology first. but i still take it back in for tweaks. Maya can be a big friend because zbrush doesn't do everything well, and sometimes the extra time in maya makes for less issues down the road.

I had a feeling that might be the case and am glad that I asked first. Regardless, I think it is coming along, and the clothing definitely looks good. I'm really excited to see how it comes along!

it mostly because i have certain photo refs im useing and so its hard to critic it when someone else is using a different ref, cause that image may be off. so ya thats how im basing my changes ;P
