It's so cute yet I'm over thinking it at the same time. Did she buy the ice cream on the beach? How did she make it to the ice cream parlor and back to her towel without losing it? Did she bring it with her from the ocean? None of it's wet.
Overall, the colors are stunning, the mermaid is beautiful...she's so attention drawing that landscape seems too open! She shoreline is lovely, this is a cute image.
Really cute! I love the idea, and it's really well done. Good job on the fins and the rest of her. The coloring is great, and the water's awesome. I love how you managed to keep the transparent feel to it, while still showing that it's there. It's really wonderful.
Late comment I know, but just getting around to looking at Deviantart... I really like how this turned out, only suggestion is that the lower half of her tail is quite thin, only about the width of one leg. Mermaid's fins usually are the width of two legs that come to the point at the fin, seems to be that way anyways. Just looking at it, if I imagine her stretching her fin straight, it might look strange having this thin lower half. Could definitely be a stylization thing too which I understand.
I know a lot of people mention that, a few times I brought it back up to re work but I have yet to get something that looks right. Normally I find leaving them along for a few months can sometimes help me see the flaws, like when i edited the Avalon pic and the witch pic a while back ^^ Thanks for the cc though, there seems to be a lack of it here lately
It's gorgeous hun! My suggestions to making it perfect would be to have the shine of her eyes tweaked, and have the water, around where her tail tips are, more uneven, since it is coming over something. It looks flat there. The eye shine, something about it is off, to me anyway. It looks like maybe if you had them both on the right or left of her eyes, it'd look better.
I still love it, and I'm sure you mother does too. :3
I think if you added some stronger shadows (like where her bum meets the ground, it would add a lot of depth. Also, the water looks like it was just kinda laid in, not like it's flowing in. I'm not sure what to change there, but something's not quite right.
Other than that, the rest is lovely. I am a mermaid nut, so I love it straight away
that's cute. it's really best of both worlds right?lol well, in the technical aspect, the bg is fine and i love the way you did the water coming in on shore, very nice. the only thing that really bugs me about this picture is the fact that the mermaid doesn't seem to be sitting correctly on her spread. she seems floating or in an angle that doesn't work. i don't know how you did your layers on this one, and i don't know if you can fix it. it's just that itself that seems off to me. am i wrong?
A really amazing yet stunning job on this very lovely Mermaid. Add some more shading under her rear to give her more weight on the blanket. Also add some more shading to the right side of her tail. Maybe add bits and pieces of seashells and seaweed onto the beach?
