This was done for a challenge at work called “the egg” started it a while ago and left it because I was having some trouble with it. However it needs to be wrapped up because I have 2 other pic’s to finish for the con I’m going to, didn’t get to render the gem parts as much as I would have liked but they are not bad, I’m pretty happy with how this came out over all and I hope to do something similar in the future.

If you're hoping to do something similar, I think it would be awesome if you did a set of them, each based on a different gemstone - Emerald, Topaz, Onyx, etc. - and with slightly different scale shapes. This one looks like an Amethyst. I would definitely have to collect them all lol, I already have a copy of this one from Hal-con 2012.

Thanks I feel the same still lots of room to improve though, I just don't have as much time to do digital paintings now that I'm trying to master 3D for my current as a game artist too
